Most people don’t think about drugs or alcohol abuse until they have a reason to.

At Pine River-Backus Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug (ATOD), we want you to start thinking about how drugs and alcohol impact your life, your children, your friends, our communities and what we can do together to stop losing our children and loved ones to substance addiction.

We provide information, programs and educational curriculum to help reduce alcohol, tobacco and other drug access and use in children and teens and help decrease adult problems caused by ATOD use in our communities.

In the most recent Minnesota Student Survey (2007) Pine River-Backus students reported that:

•  12% of 12th grade males reported drinking more than 40 times last year.
•  28% of 12th grade males admit to driving a vehicle within the past year after consuming alcohol or drugs.
